Wing Commander Jagat Kishore Mohlah (4576) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in October, 1953. He joined Hindustan Aeronautics Limited as a Test Pilot on deputation in November, 1964. During his tenure with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, he was actively engaged in the development and testing of prototype and production aircraft. His personal contribution towards development of HJTÂÂ16 - Kiran aircraft is of an outstanding nature. He undertook 349 flights comprising of 260 hours of prototype testing on this aircraft. He volunteered, and successfully completed, most difficult and challenging assignments through his stay with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. In the discharge of his onerous duties, he set an example which was in keeping with the highest traditions expected of individual engaged in such work and worthy of emulation by aviators in any environments. Wing Commander Mohlah made the supreme sacrifice when testing a Marut (HF24) aircraft on 27th July, 1971. His distinguished services to the cause of Indian aviation and Indian Air Force for which he lived and died, are of the most exceptional order. |
