The Indian Army has proved that the regimental colours its Jawans carry are still a matter of honour. The many wars it faced, have ensured that those traditions would be carried on by many generations of fighting Jawans in the years to come. Most of all, the Jawans have learnt that after all was said and done, honour in battle meant standing one's ground and fighting - even to the last man or tank if necessary. Jai Hind!! Jai Jawan!!

The Lord of Boundary Pillar BP 638
During the many notable battles were fought in the Western Theatre too to contain and destroy our adversary. One such Battle was “The Battle of Boundary Pillar (BP) 638” fought by 13 Kumaon on 9 December 1971 near Longewala in Jaisalmer Sector against utter combat confusion and heavy odds. Colonel N N Bhatia writes the story of the battle.

Till the 1965 War, India only had a single Armoured Division and an Independent Armoured Brigade. However the number of formations raised has seen a steady expansion after 1965. These have been augmented with the raising of "Mechanised" Brigades consisting of Mech Infantry Regiments.
