Veteran Sites

Bharat Rakshak is interested in compiling a personal history of the veterans that have served with the IAF in the course of its rich history. Operational and wartime histories are valuable and interesting in their own right but the details and insights available in personal testimonials are an equally valuable resource. We are looking for ex-service personnel and veterans who will be willing to share their experiences and service particulars that would help us create an archive of material on the History of the Indian Air force.

Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur

  Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur 14665 F(P) (Retd),  had two tenures in the Siachen Pioneers, the first in 1978-1982 and the second one as its Commanding Officer 1993-1997. He was also the assistant chief of Integrated Defence Staff in-charge of tri-Service perspective planning and force structure. Earlier, he was assistant chief of air staff [transport & helicopters] at Air HQ. He is now a Distinguished Fellow at Centre for Air Power Studies, New Delhi.

Wg Cdr Locksley Percival Fegredo

Locksley Percival Fegredo was born in 1926 and joined the Indian Air Force in 1950 on completion of his University and Engineering education. As one of the first batch of technical officers, Locksley was involved in many of the pioneering efforts of the Indian Air Force involving electronics, airborne radar and communication.

Air Vice Marshal Arvind Dalaya (1931-2022)

Air Vice Marshal Arvind Dalaya passed away on the morning of 2 September 2022 at the military hospital in New Delhi.    He was a man of faith, honour, and integrity. Throughout his career and in retirement, he lived by the motto: Country First, Service Second, Self Last.

Group Captain A G Bewoor VM (Retd)

Gp Capt A G Bewoor 9718 F(P) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in October 65 into the Transport Stream.

He was one of the pioneer members to induct the Il-76 into the IAF.

He flew the first Il-76 into Male during the abortive coup in Maldives in 1988. This, along with the other acts earned him the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry) in 1990.
