An oil-on-canvas painting of INS Rajput. This particular painting is placed at Naval HQ, New Delhi. INS Rajput was the former HMS Rotherham - a R Class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She served in the Second World War by patrolling the waters of the East Indies and was present offshore during the Japanese surrender of Singapore. She survived the war with no combat damage or loss of life. She was then transferred and commissioned into the Royal Indian Navy on 29 July 1949 and reached India (along with her sister ships - INS Rana and INS Ranjit) - in January 1950. These three vessels constituted the 11th Destroyer Squadron, of which INS Rajput served as the leader. She was decommissioned from Indian Naval service in 1976.
