Indian Air Force Databases

The Indian Air Force Database section hosts multiple queryable databases that can be used as a source for research into history. In this section you will find the links to a database of officer rank personnel, wartime and peace time award winners, Training courses, appointment rosters, unit histories with badges and CO lists, aircraft tail numbers with potted history and photographs and many more. This is a one stop location for any kind of background research you would want to do.

All the data available here on personnel is publicly available in the Gazette of India, published by the Indian Government. Most national libraries - including libraries in UK, US maintain microfilm copies of the Gazette of India from the 19th Century till the current date. Moreover additional information are sometimes provided by the officers themselves, who are either serving or retired, or sent by their families. Information is also regularly published in Newspapers, Investiture booklets etc which are publicly available in the country. Most of the work on units and personnel has been done by Anchit Gupta. Unit postings etc are available only for retired officers. No posting information of serving officers below the rank of Air Vice Marshal are being displayed, unless the information is atleast ten years out of date.
