Details : | Air Commodore Akhilesh Kumar Verma (18063) AE(M) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as an engineer in the Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) branch on 09 Sep 1985. He is presently posted at Air HQ (RKP) as Principal Director Maintenance Inspection (PDMI) wef 01 Ju115. He is qualified on MiG 21 variants and has held appointments which include Joint Director in Weapon Cell and DASI at Air HQ as well as STO of a MiG 21 squadron and CEO of a front line fighter base. He has commanded Mechanical Training Institute (MTI) at Tambaram. He is an M Tech from liT Mumbai and has undergone staff courses at Defence Services Staff College & College of Air Warfare. The officer is an exceptional professional. As the Tech Fit Cdr, he spearheaded the recovery of MiG 21 with a broken nose oleo from the runway at night. As CEO, he was instrumental in the inhouse repair of a damaged Heron RPA wing & tail plane. At MTI, he introduced modern teaching techniques and training aids. At HQ CAC, as Command Engineering Coordinator, he executed the yearly aircraft stagger plan and ensured that the s-Maintenance Management System pilot project at 40 Wg rolled out on schedule. As Command Tettra Officer at HQ TC, he standardized TETTRA web pages and on-line evaluation models. His efforts led to allocation of a Su·30 and ALH to TETTRAs imparting realistic practical training. Long pending cases for initial Policy Page for HAWK and RPA TETTRAs were cleared. As PDMI, the officer has standardized qualitative and quantitative aspects of evaluation across BRDs, EDs Communication Units, TTls and TETTRAs. He ensured that Quality Audits of various fleets are objective oriented towards realization of IAFs operational goals. Important aspects regarding Maintenance Officers Categorisation Board such as AFO revision, standardization of ab-lnito training of AE officers at AFA and AFTC as well as relocation were expeditiously resolved.
